Dude Week is an intentional, focused season during the Spring semester where the men of Morris Hall at Taylor University seek greater discipline, accountability, and community in their lives. From February 22 through the 26, the men are encouraged to abstain from something that can get in the way of a meaningful relationship with God and others.

Founder Justin Heth, class of 2000, started Dude Week out of a desire to build men up and develop community. He says:

“As I brainstormed ideas about creating and developing community, my mind always kept coming back to the times when I saw community at its best, which was when the power was out in the buildings and people had no other options but to be together. So, I thought about creating a week dedicated to being together and building community, which also meant giving up some of the daily things that can interfere with community.”

Some of the activities during the week are the Morris Olympics, an electronic fast, and story time.

Our hope with this site is to build an online community for “dudes” to come together and report on their activities this week to build intentional and authentic community face-to-face (obviously not in a way that would distract them from abstaining from technology!)

We are also encouraging alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff to contribute their encouragement, their memories, and their advice for maintaining an intentional relationship with God, peers, mentors, and others – now, and in the future.
